OSHA establishes protective standards, enforces those standards, and reaches out to employers and employees through technical assistance and consultation programs.

Maintained by the Center for Disease Control, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the Federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related disease and injury.
